INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT)

The ICT sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in Zimbabwe as signified by a 14% growth in 2015, translating to a 5% contribution to GDP. Key areas in the Zimbabwe ICT sector are: Telecommunication services – voice, data and internet, broadband and satellite services connectivity; Postal and courier services; and value added services – mobile money, applications and social media.

The widespread increase in the use of smart phones and other smart devices has spurred demand for internet services. The internet penetration rate is expected to continue to grow as operators deploy newer technologies like LTE and FTTx.
